Our Story

A National Ministry Serving The Local Church

Mercy United Kingdom is committed to educating leaders, equipping individuals and empowering churches with effective discipleship resources, pastoral support services and residential homes (for young women with life controlling issues).

The vision for Mercy United Kingdom was launched in 1999 after Pastor Paul Scanlon from Life Church, Bradford met Nancy Alcorn and heard about the work of Mercy Ministries (now known as Mercy Multiplied).

Convinced that the UK needed homes too and passionate about reaching the broken, he formed a team to bring Mercy to the UK; a team which included our Chief Executive, Arianna Walker.

In 2004, Mercy UK became an independent charity, governed by a UK Board of Trustees Then in 2006 we opened our residential Christian discipleship programme and have since seen over 300 incredible, courageous young women enter through our doors.

Now, as we close on our tenth anniversary, with a committment to always run residential discipleship programmes, we are enlarging and expanding our provision of services to the local church with an 8 week interactive discipleship course, Keys to Freedom, launching in January 2017.

Arianna Walker has been involved with Mercy UK since its beginnings in 1999.

She first became aware of Mercy when trying to get help for her younger sister Debbie, who was battling drug addiction and suicidal tendencies. Debbie went through the Mercy programme in the US, and is now the Executive Director of Services at Mercy UK.
